Joern Geisbuesch awarded the Michael Penston Prize

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Joern Geisbuesch has been awarded the Michael Penston Prize of the Royal Astronomical Society.

The Royal Astronomical Society has awarded the Michael Penston Prize to Dr. Joern Geisbuesch from the Astrophysics Group of the Cavendish Laboratory for his doctoral thesis in the field of Astrophysics and Astronomy. His thesis entitled "Cosmology with Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Cluster Surveys" focused on the detection of galaxy clusters via their imprint in the Cosmic Microwave Background, the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect. The thesis primarily explored how Sunyaev-Zel'dovich cluster surveys can be used to constrain cluster physics and particularly the cosmology of the Universe. The Prize is sponsored by the publishers of the Royal Astronomical Society's Journals, Wiley-Blackwell, and is administered by the Royal Astronomical Society Higher Education Committee.
