John Young
I work as a Senior Research Associate in the Cavendish Astrophysics Group at
the University of Cambridge.
My research interests and activities include:
- The scientific exploitation of high angular resolution techniques in stellar astrophysics, in particular:
- Surface asymmetries on evolved stars
- Stellar pulsation and mass loss
- Fundamental parameters of stars
- Design and commissioning of the Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer
- Data processing/analysis in optical interferometry and
aperture masking:
- Instrumentation for optical and infrared stellar
interferometers:
- My PhD thesis (1999) was
concerned with the development and use of an
IR camera for COAST
- Real-time control systems
- Site testing for optical interferometry
A complete list of my publications is
